To a true friend and loyal reviewer, to someone's whose posts make me laugh and occasionally nearly cry and whose taste in music makes me feel I'm not alone, to someone whose consistent encouragement has helped to keep me writing, from the very first fic I ever wrote, even when I switched fandoms. If I ever doubted the power of the internet, just knowing you would be justification enough to make me change my mind.
Wishing you the very best of days, weeks, months and years
A thousand hugs,
Sandy

I think, if there's one finished fic of mine that I'm really proud of, it has to be 'In the Underworld'. (Of course, there's also the SWBD series but I was really still learning the trade when I began that one and, to me, though not necessarily to everyone, there are places where that shows.) For a relatively short fic, ItU is highly charged emotionally. In a lot of ways I went outside of my normal comfort zone to write it... and, in my opinion, it worked but, until now, it's never even been nominated anywhere simply, I suspect, because so many award sites cater exclusively to Spuffy and Spike/Other or want the main characters to be vampires or simply want there to be a pairing (which is ambiguous in this particular case) or for one reason or another have requirements that mean it's not eligible. To be honest, with things quiet on the SotHA front I'd more or less resigned myself to the fact that this was one fic that would never get its moment in the limelight.
That's why I'm really glad that 'the usual suspect' has gone to all the trouble to find an award site, where my little no-Spike fic fits in.

Thanks, honey!
